Adam Lamay
Lead Teacher
Adam brings over 15 years of teaching experience and a lifelong passion for youth development and educational equity. A first-generation college student, Adam originally pursued a career in Communications and Journalism, but a transformative summer working at Pine Forest Camp in the Poconos revealed his true calling: working with children.
That summer sparked a journey that led Adam from leading student trips to Costa Rica (where he hopes to retire!), to launching summer camps, to helping found Community Partnership School in Philadelphia, a progressive institution focused on helping children thrive in underserved communities. Adam spent the next 15 years at CPS, first as a fourth grade lead teacher and later developing impactful out-of-school programming focused on mentoring, relationship-building, and student growth beyond the classroom.
After the pandemic reshaped his priorities, Adam returned to Central PA to be closer to his family. When the opportunity to join Fern Hill arose, he immediately recognized the chance to make a meaningful contribution to a community close to home.
Adam brings warmth, humor, dedication, and a calm confidence to his work with students. He believes in meeting children where they are, nurturing their potential, and building authentic, trusting relationships.
Outside the classroom, Adam enjoys tending to his garden, cooking delicious meals, and relaxing with his beloved dog Phoebe and lap-sitting rooster, Rex. He's also often spotted poolside at sunset or spending time with his adored niece and nephew.
